Day One (Aug. 12)

Arrive in Trondheim and meet the tour group. You will be staying southwest of Trondheim in Orkanger enjoying a special two night stay at a restored historic manor-estate – Bardshaug Herregard Manor. This manor is our home for the first two nights. You will enjoy a dinner this evening at the manor.

Day Two (Aug. 13)

We travel to the beautiful and historic city of Trondheim today for a privately guided tour of the famous Nidaros Cathedral. There will be time for you to explore the city on your own before we return in the afternoon to Bardshaug Herregard. There, we will enjoy a special histroical presentation of the Orkanger area. You will enjoy breakfast and a traditional welcome dinner at the manor.

Day Three (Aug. 14)

After breakfast at the manor, we travel south to Rennebumartnan Festival, enjoying local crafts, food, music, and dance. This festival is similiar to Høstfest in Minot, ND, USA. The food you enjoy at this festival is made locally and the music and dance authentic! It's quite the festival!. Later we continue to Sør Fron (Gubrandsdalen) for another unique cultural overnight experience. Here we stay at an authentic old renovated farmstead where King's once visited. Enjoy an authentic Norwegian dinner tonight and accommodations at the De Histroiske Sygård Grytting Hotel.

Day Four (Aug.15)

Travel south after breakfast at the hotel to visit Maihaugen Museum in Lillehammer, the largest open air museum in Norway. Here you'll see the old buildings displaying historic homes from Gulbrandsdalen area showing their way of life. In addition, you'll see Bjerkebæk, author Sigrid Undset's home that now is a museum. Lillehamer was the home of the 1994 winter Olympics. Later we will meet with local families for dinner and an overnight stay in their homes in Lillehamer. You will learn what it is to live in Norway!

Day Five (Aug. 16)

Once we finish breakfast we'll travel along the famous Peer Gynt Road and then continue to the impeccable Jotunheimen mountain range and through the woods. You will get a first hand impression of where the music came from the Edvard Grieg wrote for Ibsen's Peer Gynt. One can hear the music as you travel through this area. In between, we come to a place called Gålå (part of traditional Gulbrandsdalen) where true goat cheese (geitøst) was first made. Here take a small hike to a sæter where you'll learn how this cheese is made. Next, travel to Bøverdalen where you spend the night in the Elveseter Hotel, an old farm situated in Bøverdalen Valley. Spend the night in cozy mountain cabins and enjoy a delicious three course Norwegian style dinner.

Day 6 (Aug. 17)

You are now in Fjord country. After a very memorable buffet breakfast, we continue our travels as we make our way to Lom. Here, we'll visit a stone museum and the Lom Stave Church. You'll learn about Norway's pink mineral, Thulite, which was first found here in 1820. From this mountainous area we'll travel to the coastal fjord area, stopping by a lake along the way enroute to Leon where we enjoy an unforgetable smorgasborg dinner and spend the night at the beautiful Alexandra Hotel. There is time to relax, refresh, swim or walk. The hotel's lounge offers evening music.

Day 7 (Aug. 18)

We are now in Fjord country. After a very memorable buffet breakfast we continue our travels heading south for the Luster area. The coach takes us up past mountains, blaciers, fjords, majestically intertwining it all. Our first stop will be in the artistic town of Jølster (part of Sunnfjorden). Here we'll visit Norway’s largest Christmas and gift shop. From here, we continue to the small village of Solvorn and cross the Lustrafjord to visit the smallest Stave church, Urnes. This church is listed as a World UNESCO preserved sight. Continuing on the romantic road along the fjord, where many painters gathered inspiration for their work, we will stop and settle in for our overnight and dinner in the Luster area.

Day 8 (Aug. 19)

After a hearty breakfast we journey to the largest glacier in Norway and continental Europe, Jostedalenbreen. Here, you'll learn about glaciers and perhaps go on a small glacier hike. We continue traveling by coach to Hafslo where we enjoy a dinner and spend the night at the Eikun Hotel.

Day 9 (Aug. 20)

We have an early departure today after a hearty Norsk breakfast. We'll embark on a specially guided three hour World UNESCO Næroyfjord cruise on Norway’s narrowest fjord. It will be a memorable cruise! You'll have impeccable photo opportunities and viewing of how people lived along the fjord coast. By coach we continue our trip to Voss, in Hordaland, where we tour old historical buildings at the De Historiske Stalheim Hotel where we stay this evening. Dinner at the hotel with music and great views is also included. This hotel is a must for Norway travelers! There is a historical WWII site here as well.

Day 10 (Aug. 21)

This morning we will again enjoy a terrific breakfast before departing for Bergen. The route offers outstanding views of the beautiful Næroy Valley. Along the way stop and tour Troldhaugen, the home of Nina and Edvard Grieg. After the tour we head for Bergen where we'll spend the night at the Thon Rosenkrantz Hotel. Explore the town and in a couple blocks visit the World UNESCO Hanseatic area.

Day 11 (Aug. 22)

Enjoy a full Norwegian breakfast before traveling across Norway. We begin by taking a train from Bergen east to Jevnaker. Enjoy amazing views from your window. In Jevnaker, we continue south by coach to Hønefoss where we'll stay at the Klækken Hotel where you can enjoy the beautfully landscaped statue garden, swim, refresh and/or relax. Tonight enjoy a three course dinner Norwegian style. You are only one hour from Oslo!

Day 12 (Aug. 23)

Directly after breakfast and before leaving Jevnaker and Buskerud county, we will visit the famous Hadeland Glass Factory and Village. Then our coach continues to Oslo where we will then visit the famous Vigeland Sculpture Park. Tonight and tomorrow evening will be spent at Karl Johan Norlandia Hotel. in the heart of downtown Oslo. Enjoy a tour to the famous Vigeland Museum Park with its famous sculptures. Explore Oslo on your own this evening.

Day 13 (Aug. 24)

After a delicious breakfast, experience a delightful Oslo sightseeing tour. There will be time for shopping or sightseeing on your own at the end of the day. This evening, we'll feast on a special farewell dinner at the hotel.

Day 14 (Aug. 25)

After breakfast in the hotel, the tour ends.

We will always book similiar accommodations, and whenever possible keep the itinerary the same. Prices will be updated as the final itinerary is planned and currency rates are updated.
