ABOUT

NORLAND CORP.

Norland Corp. has been in operation since 2006. That year, on Whidbey Island, Washington, a group of children dancers, the Young Scandia Dancers, were heading to Norway to display their dancing skills and learn more about the country whose dances they had learnt. The company was formed to offer this trip so that the talented dancers had an affordable and unique cultural heritage experience. Many adult volunteers commented on how much they had enjoyed the trip and would like another one the next year. This lead to adult tours being offered every summer. The company hopes to expand each year it's unique offerings to the Nordic countries.

gonorland.com

The website's name expresses the positive aspect of traveling to Nordic countries. In Norwegian the word gå (which sounds like go in English) translates as showing movement or walking. This combined with American cheers of Go Team Go, lead us to the gonorland name for our website. Norland Corp. goals is to make each trip a unique travel experience that is fun, positive, upbeat and filled with lots of learning and awe-inspiring scenery. We want you to come away from the trip with a love of the land and people and a respect for their cultural heritage and modern way of life.

TOUR DIRECTOR

Norland Corp.'s delightful and energetic tour director, Linda Spencer of Whidbey Island, Washington, was born and raised in Norway and came to United States when she was 12 years old. She has continually visited Norway in the summers and is fluent in both Norwegian and English and has spent her life immersed in Norwegian cultural heritage. Since coming to the United States, Ms. Spencer has been heavily involved in Scandinavian programs and groups that promote culture and heritage. She continues to be involved with the Daughters of Norway (having served on the Grand Lodge Board as a past treasurer and on the local Ester Moe Lodge #39 board). Linda was founder and director of the Young Skandia Dancers. She has chaired the Nordic Fest on Whidbey Island. She is a Registered Nurse and ACLS certified. The comments from participants about her skills as a tour guide, speak for themselves (see Testimonials). She loves making your dreams come true and helps you learn and embrace Norwegian and Nordic culture.
